SPAIN GOLF TOUR, Costa Brava

From Barcelona to the French boarder, encompassing the ancient town of Girona, lies the Costa Brava one of the most fascinating and enjoyable areas of Europe. Culinary arts thrive here, as do the luxury hotels and beautiful golf courses. Relaxed and affordable, this is one of Europe’s undiscovered golf destinations.

We recommend our clients visiting this area fly into Barcelona, perhaps spend a few nights touring the city then head north to the Costa Brava about 90 minutes. Play golf on Spain’s #1 course, PGA Catalunya and the delightful Plata d’Aro. Relax in magnificence at the seaside Hostal de la Gavina or at the luxurious Mas de Torrent Hotel. On non golf days this area offers plenty to do including visits to the appealing town of Girona, the medieval village of Peratallada or simply relax and enjoy the sun and sea.

Featured Golf Courses on the Costa Brava…

PGA Catalunya Stadium Course
PGA Catalunya Stadium Course, site of the Spanish Open originally planned to host the 1997 Ryder Cup, local construction delays forced the course opening to delay until 1999. The end result is an architectural masterpiece of golf with fairways bordered by dense, mature forests, ever-present water and far-reaching views.  PGA Catalunya was ranked #1 golf course in Spain in 2012. The Stadium Course has a sister, Tour Course also located on the picturesque PGA Resort property.

Golf Club D’Aro
Founded in 1990 this course is situated on top of the mountain “Les Gavarres” with spectacular views across the Costa Brava. The beautiful views from 1000 feet are so good that they make this course one of the best in the area. Surrounded by pines, cork oaks and over a thousand olive trees, this is a tight and challenging course along the ridge-top with plenty of challenge for anyone.  The unique clubhouse and restaurant are a great after golf setting.

Emporda GC,
Two Robert von Hagge designed courses the links and a forest courses.  The Forest Course is more scenic whereas the Links is more challenging and harder and used for PGA Tournaments. The Links is more open allowing the so called Tramontana winds coming from the nearby Pyrenees Mountains to affect each shot. The Forest features manicured umbrella pine tree lined fairways. Both courses are in good shape and definitely worth playing.
