championship links courses. Drive yourself or take one of our expert
golfing guides. Accommodations include Doonbeg Lodge and Portmarnock
Hotel. Book early for guaranteed tee times!
Itinerary
Day 1: Play Doonbeg Links
This extraordinary links site features grass-covered dunes rising
nearly 100 feet above the white-capped Atlantic. Designed by Greg
Norman and stretching 1.5 miles around a crescent-shaped beach,
Doonbeg was named 2010 European Golf Resort of the Year by IAGTO.
Enjoy a 3-night stay at Doonbeg Lodge, where world-class golf meets
grand Irish country house. Doonbeg Lodge offers luxury 5-star
accommodations, fine cuisine, and a pampering spa.
Day 2: Play Ballybunion Old Course
One of the finest links courses in the world. As Tom Watson says,
“Standing on the first tee overlooking an old graveyard the golfer has
an inclination of the sense of mystique and timelessness that is to
follow.” Founded in 1893.
Day 3: Play Lahinch Golf Club
Lahinch is an insiders favorite. The course features a classic design
that offers a great deal of variety, including two exceptional blind
shots. Created by Old Tom Morris in 1892, it was transformed by
Alister Mackenzie in 1927.
Day 4: Play Portmarnock Golf Club
From start to finish this course is sure to please. With a natural
design and graceful flow between holes, golfers enjoy a classic links
challenge with nearly 100 bunkers painstakingly placed and skillfully
constructed. The Portmarnock Hotel is your home-base for the next 4
nights. At the Portmarnock, open your bedroom curtains to the sea,
garden, or golf course; relax with a pint at the newly refurbished
Jameson Bar; and schedule a rejuvenating spa treatment.
Day 5: Play Royal County Down
The legendary Tom Morris laid out this course, and it has been described as “a golfing feast of banquet proportions.” While its location beneath the Mountains of Mourne may earn it the title of most beautiful links in the world, it is without a doubt one of the toughest. Founded in 1889, it played host to the British Senior Open in 2000 & 2001.
Day 6: Play The European Club
The first links course built in the 20th century on the east coast of Ireland, it was voted 6th in the country within its first two years! The layout has some classic and traditional doglegs running through sand dunes, and several holes along the ocean. A must play. Founded in 1992.
Day 7: Play Royal Dublin Golf Club
A definite inclusion in the list of great Irish links courses, Royal
Dublin is Ireland’s second oldest golf club and possesses a history to
match. The Irish Open was staged at Royal Dublin from 1983 to 1985;
Seve Ballesteros won it twice, and Bernard Langer won in 1984.
Day 8: Slán ábhaile!
Transfer to Dublin Airport, say goodbye to your driver or drop off
your car rental and board your flight for home
