Germany

Germany Golf Overview

While Germany is known for its many attractions, not least its beautiful countryside, historic cities, famous beer and traditional food, but this does not do justice to the hundreds of excellent golf courses and a handful of outstanding resorts. While outstanding hospitality is universal throughout Germany, the intrinsic character of its regions is distinctive to say the least.

Visiting golfers can choose from Berlin, with its edgy, progressive culture and striking Brandenburg countryside surroundings, the austere and monumental water-based Hamburg with its lush local parkland, or the traditional Bavarian Alpine greenery around the historic city of Munich. In each region are high quality popular golf and leisure resorts, which is why Germany has become a great alternative.

Berlin - Brandenburg

Since the wall came down, the natives of Berlin have continued to reinvent themselves and their landscape to reflect the freedom of movement and ideas in the city. The meeting point of so many contrasting cultural phenomena, Berlin is a fascinating mish-mash of attitudes and trends, with famous wartime monuments and extremely lively nightlife.

The surrounding Brandenburg countryside may be slightly more sedate, but it offers the perfect haven for a golf holiday within easy reach of all Berlin’s delights. The comprehensive resort at Semlin comes highly recommended, and will ensure a memorable German golf holiday.

Nick Faldo Course

A-Rosa's Faldo Course has been described as Germany's most challenging course and is set up to test professional players. The designer's passion for links golf is reflected in his creation, which features no less than 135 pot bunkers, while the undulating fairways are reminiscent of traditional seaside courses.

Arnold Palmer Course

The resort's Arnold Palmer Course is carved into the majestic woodland that stands on the lake's edge, and is a mature layout characterised by its huge greens, contoured pages and beautiful scenery. The genuine championship course is tough yet not as demanding as the Faldo.

Stan Eby Course

This is the standard resort course that will suit less skilled players; shorter and more forgiving, the Stan Eby offers golfers great views of the estate and the surrounding area.

Jake McEwan Course

A-Rosa is complete with an entertaining 9-hole par-3 course which is perfect for a bit of practice or for those new to the game.

Golf and leisure visitors to the Sport & Spa Resort will be housed in one of the 24 luxury rooms and suites at this spacious and stylish destination. There are many different room types with differing sizes and views, but all are superbly equipped.

In addition to being decorated in a vibrant and attractive fashion, the guest rooms and suites come complete with cable television, direct dial telephone, radio, internet access, safe, hair dryer, air-conditioning and mini-bar.

A-Rosa is home to one of the finest spa complexes in Europe, having received numerous plaudits and awards. The enormous wellness area has a pool, relaxation room, sauna and gym, while the spa is complete with 22 treatment rooms. Here you can enjoy any number of the most indulgent treatments.

The restaurants at the resort offer a wide variety of dining, with culinary delights to satisfy every demand.

Hamburg

The city of Hamburg is home to a bustling harbour, through which passes considerable international trade, as well as some monumental architecture set on the lovely waterfront embankments.

The River Elbe, the Alster lakes and a network of canals carve the city centre into a number of highly distinctive and recognisable areas, whose trends and atmospheres differ as greatly as their architecture.

This diversity is reflected in the surrounding areas, where visitors can choose a golf escape around the coastline near Lübeck in the northern Schleswig-Holstein region, or head to the luscious parkland of Niedersachen that epitomizes the grandeur of the resort at Lüdersburg Castle.

Great options abound around the historic centre of Hamburg, making the area a great new choice for a golf holiday in Germany. Lakes Course
The Lakes Course was formulated by the world-renowned golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, and is best described as an inland links. The 6,634 yard layout is punctuated by a vast network of lakes, producing a number of holes where the wheels can really fall off.

Old Course

The Old Course is less demanding than the Lakes, but was the original course that put the resort on the golfing map. At 6,465 yards, the Old still packs a punch, and its spectacular landscape includes fruit trees, rhododendrons, mature woodland and great lakes, making it a joy to behold. The course has recently been ranked as one of Germany’s ten most beautiful, and complements the challenging Lakes Course perfectly.

For those still mastering the game’s more subtle nuances, the resort also has an excellent driving range and a 4-hole academy course.

At the heart of the resort lies the Schloss (Castle) Lüdersburg, whose magnificent façade dates back to its inception in 1776. The accommodation is a good 4* standard, with spacious and comfortable bedrooms which are decorated and furnished in individually distinctive styles.

Traditional charm and character have been blended sympathetically with the necessity for quality modern facilities to produce a superb golf holiday destination, where you can enjoy the excellent hospitality of northern Germany.

Hotel guests can take advantage of the sauna for some relaxation.

The award-winning Falkenstein Restaurant is a fine gourmet experience, where the menu makes full use of the estate’s game.

For some hearty comfort food, head for the hotel’s very own Italian trattoria.
